Hello all,
Today we\’d like to present a selection of free mobile apps to learn English on the go. We all spend some time in transportation or waiting around, so why not take 5 minutes to boost your English?
1. Duolingo
Duolingo is one of the best free apps out there and makes learning really fun, it\’s like a game and quite addictive! According to the forum, some teachers introduced it to their high school students to learn English and gradually the teenagers stopped playing Clash of Clans and were all on Duolingo at recess.
You can learn English and other languages on Duolingo. It\’s got a very clever algorithm to make you revise words you might be forgetting or were weak on. Gradually you consolidate vocabulary, language chunks and grammar and you can quickly start reading and listening to content in your target language.
Overall Duolingo is an excellent app for beginners. I\’ve learnt two languages from scratch with Duolingo so I can vouch for its effectiveness!
2. Memrise
Memrise is an app to help you learn vocabulary. It uses creative and funny ways to make you remember words and if you use it regularly it\’s highly efficient. Again, I\’ve tried, tested and loved it, and have been using it for the past 3 years. You can use it to learn many different languages as well as other subjects, such as art, history, science and so on.
3. LearnEnglish Grammar (British Council)
This app is specifically for English and is designed to improve your grammar through a series of interactive exercises. Available for different levels from beginner to advanced, this app has over 1,000 exercises for you to practice your English grammar on the go, and it\’s completely free.
Which apps do you use? What\’s your experience with paid apps? Which would you recommend? We look forward to hearing about your experience in our Comments section!
