Siouxsie and the Banshees
Siouxsie and the Banshees (\”Siouxsie\” reads /su:zi/) was \”one of the most audacious and uncompromising musical adventurers of the post-punk era,\” according to The Times. In the same article published on 27 November 2004, Nigel Williamson called their music \”a form of post-punk discord full of daring rhythmic and sonic experimentation that was as influential as it was underrated.\”
The English band was formed in London in 1976 by Siouxsie Sioux (vocals) and Steven Severin (bass guitar).
In 1981, the band released their landmark album Jujuーa major influence on the emerging gothic rock sceneー which The Guardian placed on its \”1000 Albums to Hear Before You Die\” list in 2007.
Even though they disbanded in 1996, Siouxsie and drummer Budgie continued to record music as The Creatures, a \”parallel\” band they had formed in the early 1980s. In 2004, Siouxsie began a solo career.
In 2006, guitarist John McGeoch appeared in Mojo\’s list of \”100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time\” for his work on \”Spellbound\”.

Lyrics
\”From the cradle bars
Comes a beckoning voice
It sends you spinning
You have no choice
You hear laughter
Cracking through the walls
It sends you spinning
You have no choice
Following the footsteps
Of a rag doll dance
We are entranced
Spellbound
And don\’t forget
When your elders forget
To say their prayers
Take them by the legs
And throw them down the stairs
When you think
Your toys have gone beserk
It\’s an illusion
You cannot shirk
You hear laughter
Cracking through the walls
It sends you spinning
You have no choice
Following the footsteps
Of a rag doll dance
We are entranced
Spellbound\”
